​Elizabeth Selig is a conservation scientist with CI’s Betty and Gordon Moore Center for Science + Oceans. Liz conducts research on a variety of topics to provide a scientific foundation for CI’s landscape and seascape conservation work. Liz joined CI in 2008 after completing her Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina, where she did her dissertation work on how global climate change may affect coral reef health and which management strategies can be useful for mitigating coral loss. She has worked at the Smithsonian Institution and the World Resources Institute, where she co-authored “Reefs at Risk in Southeast Asia.” She has led or co-authored several peer-reviewed publications on the topics of marine ecology and conservation, coral reefs, climate change and marine protected areas.
