Leonardo Sáenz joined CI in 2011 after earning a Ph.D. in water resource management from King’s College London. He has expertise in issues related to water, hydropower, agriculture modeling and public water system schemes. Leo has led the first global assessments of the importance of cloud forest to dams, which also led to the creation of the most complete geo-referenced global database of dams built to date. A native of Colombia, Leo has also successfully led CI’s efforts for the strategic relocation of Gramalote, a town destroyed during the wettest La Niña event over a century in Colombia. Learn more.
