Les Kaufman is a marine evolutionary biologist with a keen interest in adaptive radiations on coral reefs and in the African Great Lakes. However, his work has increasingly turned toward clinical research on the ties between ecosystems and people, including the response of aquatic ecosystems to climate change, adaptive and ecosystem-based management of marine resources and ecological aquaculture. In addition to his current role with CI, Les is also a professor of marine biology at Boston University. Previously, he spent 11 years at The New England Aquarium, ultimately as head of its research programs. Les was awarded the first marine Pew Fellowship in 1990.
