West Papua: Marine Management at Scale

This week, the Jakarta Post ran an op-ed co-authored by Ketut Putra, director of CI’s Marine Program for CI-Indonesia, and Mark Erdmann, senior advisor of CI’s Marine Program in the region.

The article highlights the many challenges facing Indonesia’s waters, and shines the spotlight on our successful approach to protecting the area’s seas: seascapes. In particular, it calls out the incredibly rich species diversity of West Papua and the Bird’s Head Seascape, a major initiative linking multiple partners and communities in the effort to protect one of the most stunning places on Earth.
